According to TechCrunch, 5.3 million people use the platform worldwide. For non-enterprise users, it works like a gateway to multiple models, letting them compare outputs and choose the one they prefer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Intelligence was founded in 2025 by Harvard graduates including CEO Grace Li, and went through Y Combinator&#8217;s Summer 2025 batch. The idea grew out of an AI game engine project: the engine could generate functional games, but not engaging ones, which pushed the team toward collecting human judgment at scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Why Frontier Labs Pay for Human Taste<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The revenue comes from the enterprise side. Some frontier labs use DesignArena as a source of real-time feedback on their media-generation models, and they pay for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Because users log in, Intelligence can also track how design preferences shift across regions and over time. That human layer complements automated benchmarks, which scale well but can be gamed or manipulated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">A useful comparison is Arena, formerly LMArena, an AI model evaluation platform whose rankings span text, web development, vision, image generation, and other tasks. Then known as LMArena, it raised a $150 million Series A in January 2026 at a $1.7 billion post-money valuation, less than four months after launching its paid product in September 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>A Growing Market With a Cautionary Tale<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Collecting human evaluations does not guarantee a business. According to TechCrunch, Yupp \u2014 which raised $33 million in a round led by a16z crypto&#8217;s Chris Dixon \u2014 announced its shutdown in March 2026 despite counting, by its own account, over 1.3 million users, with a few AI labs among its customers. Its founders cited the lack of strong enough product-market fit, along with rapid progress in AI models and their view that AI&#8217;s future extends beyond standalone models to agentic systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Whether everyday users&#8217; votes can be turned into data that labs keep paying for is one of the factors that will determine how durable these businesses are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/tomorrowaccess.com\/en\/news\/20681\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google DeepMind and A24<\/a> announced a research partnership in June 2026 to build AI into filmmaking workflows and feed creators&#8217; feedback into the technology. It is not an evaluation business like DesignArena, but it shows human creative judgment being drawn into generative AI development beyond design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>What to Watch Next<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">As the article notes, the human evaluation market has produced both failures like Yupp and businesses that are turning evaluations into revenue, like Arena and DesignArena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">What remains open is how Intelligence will deploy the new funding, and how far its evaluation formats and frontier lab contracts will extend.
